That's the impression that I often get in Denver! Unlike in Arizona where ladies are much more feminine. There was definitely a big contrast between the two states that a lot of people think of as being similar in regards to social scene.

I will stick to my southern belles, they are very girly and fem in the south the high class ones always dress nice have their make up done and their hair done. I love hot Southern girls, they tend to be more conservative and into pleasing their man.

To each his own, but that sounds terribly boring. I would rather be with a woman who can give me a run for my money climbing up a mountain. I don't have the patience for high maintenance.

Being fem and girly doesn't mean they are high maintenance man lol. I love dudes and their stereotypes.

I've never really lived in Denver, however I have spent time there, went to grad school only two hours north of there (went to Denver many times while going to school there). So although I don't speak with authority, I think I know enough about/have spent enough time there to know that it is top of my list of places to move to.

I get the impression that Denver has "matured" enough as a city, that it has evolved to have more lifestyle diversity to suit people of all different interests and backgrounds. I get the impression that "Menver" was probably more accurate 15-20 years ago but is becoming more of a place that a transplant from Southern California could find their niche (more diversity, more even sex ratio, etc.) minus the adjustment to the harsher more continental climate. (yet still much more mild than say midwest cities, as Denver gets chinook/foehn winds that bring mild temps in the winter).

I am a midwest suburban transplant living in SoCal, who has teaches community college earth science and has a passion for outdoors activities. I still like urban amenities and would prefer not EVERYONE being as outdoorsy as I am. The woman I just started dating (from the same part of the country I am from) likes that I am exposing her to the outdoors and hiking as shes getting into it through me, but I wouldn't be as interested in a woman that can "kick my butt"

I think Denver has matured enough, where someone like me would be very happy.

I think if you were to describe a city that fits Denvers classic stereotype as attracting hard core outdoorsy types, I get the impression that Salt Lake City is evolving from homogenous LDS/Mormon to a a city for people who want to be skiing, snowboarding, and rock climbing all the time.

"I like southern girls. They talk so slow that by the time they say no, I made it already."

I moved to Denver in September of 2013 after living in San Antonio, TX for 3 years and Columbus, OH for the previous 20 and the thing I noticed very quickly is how rare it is to walk into a sports bar or martini bar here in Denver and see a female behind the bar compared to the two previously mentioned cities (unless you go to Hooters or Twin Peaks which isn't my scene). There are plenty of women servers working the tables, but very rarely a woman behind the bar.

I really wondered if this was all in my mind and stopped into a few bars while visiting friends on a trip back to Columbus just 6 weeks ago and the difference was pretty obvious. Far more women behind the bar than men.

To answer the original question, it is also a bad dating/relationship market for married men too.
