Hi y'all! I am considering on moving to Denver in the summer. I am 28 year old female working in the service industry. I'm currently living in the Caribbean and plan on being stateside in June. I have only driven through Denver as a kid a few times so I need some help. I will not have a car and will rely on public transportation. I plan on getting an apartment for myself and 2 pups. I'm hoping to spend around $800-$1000 on rent. Please direct me to the best neighborhoods that can accommodate my cost of living and need of public transit. Thanks!!

Have you read any of the myriad posts on this topic of "moving to Denver"?

Yes I have read them, just looking for some personalized assistance.

And I've chosen Denver bc I feel the lifestyle is compatible to my needs/wants in a city.

It would help if we knew more about your needs and wants. You mentioned you work in the service industry. Can you be more specific? What else is important to you? The Denver metro is fairly large, so it would help if you could give us a little more information.

Oh no problem. So I'll be working at a hotel or bar tending. I plan to find employment upon arrival, my industry makes that realistic. Ideally I'd like to live alone in a dog friendly community. Public transportation is very important as I won't have a vehicle for a while. I'm just finishing up a season working in the Virgin Islands and I purged my life positions prior to arrival on island. I'm basically starting over so I am quite flexible. Affordability, location and dog friendliness are my main concerns. I am rather adaptable and as long as those 3 needs are met I will be just fine.

I will add that I lived in Austin TX for 5 years and I enjoy that "progressive city" feel…which I'm sure is everywhere in Denver, however I'd like to submerge myself in that as well… So there's that

If you don't have a car, you'll need to know the RTD system: RTD

Or buy a bicycle or scooter for commuting. Great parking options.
