I'm possibly relocating to the Denver metro area. My brother is being transferred to Littleton. Is there a relatively nearby area that I can find a rental in the 800-900 range? It's just me, so a studio is fine. We live in the Philadelphia metro area now. Philadelphia isn't among the safest cities but the small suburb we live in is quiet and pretty safe in comparison. I've been reading a lot and it seems Aurora is mentioned as being affordable but people's opinions differ on how safe it is. I'm guessing some areas are safer than others? Are there any other places to be looking?

Yes, it is possible. A great place to start in searching for rentals is Apartments for Rent - PadMapper Apartment Search for Oodle, Rent.com, Kijiji, and Craigslist Apartments. Set your price range and location and it will show you a map of possibilities. Some of the properties do not keep prices updated so you will want to verify. I searched and found this one bedroom in Littleton for $780, just to see if it could be done. At that low of a price, the apartments won't be the new and fancy ones but are certainly liveable.

Apartments for Rent in Littleton, Colorado - Canyon Crest

Aurora, like many places, is a mix of nice and not as nice areas. While there are some areas I wouldn't want to live in, I've not seen any place I'd be truly afraid to live in. If you compare to other cities with scary neighborhoods (Chicago, I'm thinking of you), nothing in Denver metro is really too bad. YMMV.

Of course it goes without saying (but yet I'm saying it anyway), don't commit to a place without visiting first.

I'm going through some of the places and there are reviews for some that are downright scary! Of course that's to be expected at such a low end. It has me wondering, though, does anyone know of any apartment complexes that I absolutely should avoid? Or any that have a better reputation?

Thank you. That's a good place to start!
