Just wondering if anybody else noticed this. I live in Westminster. This year, during snow I noticed that salt trucks did not spray any salt or sand. They neither sprayed the salt nor blowed the snow. They simply drove around especially in Westminster.
Looks like another scam in the making. Someone is pocking the money.

They never touch residential streets in Denver. Well, I think they changed the rules so if it snows a foot or more, they'll run one quick swipe down residential streets, but that's it. Residential streets suck until it melts.

We don't have that problem in Highlands Ranch. They come down our street a couple times during big storms.

Most of the cities have roadway priorities.

Priority 1 - Main arterials for emergency services (Police, fire).
Priority 2 - Secondary streets - access to schools, grocery stores, etc.
Priority 3+ - Everything other non-residential street.

Lowest priority - Residential streets. Rarely plowed (if ever).

Our house backs up to a Priority 2 street and it's always plowed because it's the only access to the elementary school in the neighborhood.

That might explain our situation. We are right by the elementary school.

we're on the next block from an elementary school, maybe we'll luck out and get plowed! they won't touch the alley where the garages are, of course, so I'm not sure what will happen with that.

In Stapleton, the one time I recall it being really bad, (that blizzard in Dec. 2006), residents had to shovel the alleys

Who actually owns the alleys? Isn't that city property?

No complaints from me (Arvada). My street appears to get a once through each storm.

No other reason to go down my street other than to go to somebody's house.

Have you notice the lack of rust on the cars?

Read this to understand what they are doing.
https://www.codot.gov/travel/winter-.../products.html

They were probably spraying mag chloride. Salt really isn't used much. We don't get enough moisture to wash it away and it would just salinate the soil.

To summarize they plow and they spray mag chloride for the most part.

My street doesn't get plowed, we have to get ourselves out.

I've never seen salt or sand here, but I've never lived anywhere else it snowed (through winter) so I wouldn't know what they'd look like if they did.
