I live in Charlotte and everyone is starting to advertise their homes for DNC week for absurd amounts. What was it like in Denver in 2008? Were people able to rent their houses out near the convention for $10,000 a week?

the places near the convention center (downtown, lodo, etc) rented for crazy amounts - all the hotels were booked.

I've got a modern condo just 5 mins to uptown Charlotte, and I'm trying to figure out of its worth my while to leave town for the week. It could only sleep 2 people though. I wish there was a way to see what some of those places went for. It's hard to decide how much ask in this type of situation.

Yep. Friend of mine rented out his apartment for some absurd amount, and went on a vacation to Europe during that week. Fully paid for by the rental.

I found out after the fact that Sean Penn rented a house around the corner from my own.

Soo, if I have a super modern 2bed/2bath condo in a trendy neighborhood just 5 mins to the convention, what might that fetch for a week?

Highly unlikely you get the frenzy that the Dems had in 08 now with a sitting President. Less press coverage seems likely and being closer to DC many might just come out for a day or two. You probably should just wait and see what places on sites like Craigslist and AirBNB are going for before pricing it out.
