Moving to Denver in less then 2 weeks!! Well my bf is going first and i'll follow shortly after. We've rented in Centennial, near the airport, though we have an Englewood addy.

Can anyone tell me which is better priced? Safeway or King Sooper
The place we rented is closer to King Sooper, but not too far from Safeway either.

We need to purchase a washer/dryer, almost immediately, I cant find a coin laundromat anywhere near our new place. We checked out prices at Lowe's, but just wondering if there's a better place to shop for these?

And we also looked at SofaMart, we need a new couch and dining table...are we looking in the right store, any better ones we should go to?

Thanks!!

SofaMart and American Furniture Warehouse, Kacey Fine Furniture, Brandon's, I have bought from all.

Lowes, Home Depot, Sears - there is a Sears Outlet store near I-25 & 6th ave, if you don't care what the w&D look like (all my applienaces for the rental properties come from Sears Outlet)

Safeway, Albertson's & King Soopers all have sales on a variety of items, I don't think there is a clear winner in the lowest price wars. Even SuperTarget, Super Walmart has some amazing buys sometimes.

IMO, King Soopers is far better. And if you can find an Albertson's, they are good too, as in yesterday when I got a hot loaf of whole wheat French bread for $1.00. For some reason, Albertson's loves to offer stuff at 10 for $10, but you don't need to buy ten. I bought one and paid $1 for it. If you run across a store called Whole Foods, give it a look. Many people love it for the organic stuff they sell and many other neat things. But many people refer to it as Whole Paycheck as they are not cheap at all, and I've never been impressed by their merchandise.

Appliances are trickier as they're big-ticket items you rarely buy. Get a bad one and you're stuck. I check quality ratings and prices in Consumers Report, found at any library. Good places for brand names are Best Buy, Lowe's or Sears.

Albertson's and Safeway are near each other on Arapahoe Road just east of I-25. King Soopers is at Belleview and Yosemite, although there may be one at Arapahoe Road and Parker. No Whole Foods anywhere nearby Centennial Airport -- if someone knows of one, PLEASE share! Costco is just south of Park Meadows Mall at County Line Road and I-25; sometimes they carry appliances like washers and dryers.

I find that King Soopers has the best prices on general groceries. Walmart is also a good bet, although I don't care for their produce.

Given your location, it might not make dollars and cents, but the best prices i've found on herbs, many vegetables, and many fish/seafood items is at the ethnic supermarkets (HMart, OceanPacific, and Rancho Liborio, to name a few). And, if you eat what most people in the States consider exotic (duck legs or fish beyond just salmon, tilapia, and trout--say mackerel, whole rock cod. or rascasse), then you'll probably want to check these places out.
