Keep in mind that as hardware gets better software will require better hardware to deliver new features. What can you do with that NOW? not much more than that 100mb/s gives you. But I bet in 5 years such speeds will practically be required.

I see streaming video games in 4k being played live (no CD / download necessary, the game will stream from a centralized server for a monthly fee - play any game you want like PSNow only better), I see passive 3D in 4K streaming from Netflix, I see massive worlds being downloaded to your TV in seconds allowing you to explore practically any place on earth, etc etc...

But really though, expect two industries to continue to lead technological advancements: porn and gaming. Almost every tech advancement can trace back to these two industries

I saw this on the news. They were saying the cost would be around $399 a month.

Here in Longmont the city is installing 1 Gig. Will cost $49 a month for those who sign up within the first 3 months of it being available to them and that price will transfer to new owners if house is sold. My husband has already upgraded all our wiring in anticipation. Can't wait to dump Comcast.

I can't imagine spending another couple of thousand each year on top of what I'm already paying. I'm sure I'd like it if I had it but it's so far down on the list of where I'd want to put my money given that I have pretty decent speed already, certainly fast enough for what we use it for.

Agree although I'm sure they are working hard on products that will attempt to make it rise on your list of importance.
