I think Lafleur is looking for a good deal on a fixer upper.

That's what the townhome was that I put an offer in on last weekend. The place needed a complete face lift; outdated kitchen, outdated bathrooms, chewed up trim, broken window in bedroom, holes in drywall, and no A/C. I would have needed to dump around $10k-$20k on the place. Asking price was about $170k, which I thought was a fair amount given the location and state of the interior. I thought for sure I'd be able to get it; yet I was still outbid on that one.

It is so frustrating here as a first time buyer. It's like you just can't win unless you came here with $$$$ in the bank and you're willing to pay $$$ for even a run of the mill, fixer upper house in a not ideal part of town.

It depends on what you want to live in. I pay about $825/mo (pet rent, utilities included) for a 1BR/1BA 685 sq ft apartment in SE Denver. That's still significantly cheaper for me as a first time buyer without the huge 20% down payment.

Yes, anything near Colfax and west of the 225. I live in Stapleton and have heard gun shots from my house Granted, the shots were at least 8 blocks to the south and across a cultural divide.

Yes... I moved to Denver in my 20s and lived in Capital Hill. It was a perfect place at that time in my life

This is at the top of your budget on the edge of Baker (722 W 5th Ave Denver, CO 80204). Looks pretty decent for the price and probably a better investment then East Aurora.

This house near downtown Littleton (5684 So Datura St Littleton, CO 80120) has been on the market for a long time. It's really cute. It's above your price range but maybe they'd be willing to negotiate considering it's been for sale for so long. You never know.

Here's one just south of downtown Englewood at the bottom of your price range (16 E Quincy Ave Englewood, CO 80113). No pictures of the inside so it could be a disaster and it's on a semi busy street but at that price could be worth a look. Not a bad area.

How can I look at these? Are you pulling them from a particular site? I didn't see the first one on Zillow.
