Top 10 hail cities

I figured Denver would be even higher. Hail hits the east side of town almost every day each June.

Well, time to move to Pueblo or safe-haven La Junta.

The scary thing is that we're not #1. The fact that it gets worst...

Poor Tulsa

Poor Tulsa is right. I've been through there several times through rough weather. Wichita and OKC as well. Nasty conditions at times!

Odd ranking. My daughter lives and gardens in Tulsa while I do the same in Centennial. We constantly share weather and garden updates. While we have had numerous hailstorms this year, including a big one on Memorial Day that wiped out my recently planted container gardens, she's had one pea-sized hailstorm. She says she's glad she doesn't have to contend with the hail we get in Colorado.

Maybe they meant ice storms? I wouldn't want to be in Tulsa during one of those!

In the 10 years we've lived in Denver, we never had any bad hail until the last 2 years. Horrible hail in May of 2014 that defoliated our trees and required a new roof and paint job (some neighbors had cracked windows) and then this year, we had multiple hail events in June that pounded our garden into the ground and the last one removed a lot of the leaves from our trees. Right now, our landscaping looks great, except for the trees. This is the 2nd year in a row they haven't been as "full" as normal due to hail.

We probably get hail more frequently than cities ranked above us, but it's typically not larger than pea-to-marble size. Dallas-Fort Worth, OTOH, gets 2-3 major hailstorms per year (baseball-sized and up). They get hail that routinely destroys roofs, vinyl siding, and windows.

Hail is so interesting here... We've only had one large hail storm here in Edgewater, but my mom in Englewood had a handful that destroyed her garden.

I'd pick Tulsa's climate over Denver's any day. They have mild winters, warm springs and falls, chilly winters with little snow, and acid soil that grows almost anything.
