Denver Rock 'N' Roll Marathon runs its course: 2015 will be last - The Denver Post

I'm pretty tired of neighborhood residents whining about traffic, crowds and noise anytime an event is held (City park, I'm looking at you.) The city is diminished IMO when events like the marathon are cancelled because neighbors feel our public parks and streets belong to them.

Yes, I agree, too. It took me 30 minutes to figure out how to cross the marathon route last year. I was ever-so-slightly inconvenienced, but mostly just excited to be part of the action!

I think it has more to do with the number of people racing the marathon vs the half. 1750 completed the full while 8500 completed the half. It's a lot more profitable to cut the course in half and focus on the 8500 racers.
