Hello,

We just moved to the Denver area less than 2 weeks ago so we have no idea where stuff is yet. hehe

We're wondering where the good places/neighborhoods for driving around and viewing Christmas lights are. Our children are young--under 5--so they LOVE seeing the displays and lights.

Thanks!

Sherrie

Christmas lights are everywhere in Denver (putting Christmas lights on the outside of your house was actually started in Colorado so its pretty popular). You can drive through almost every neighborhood and see tons of lights. Some of the neighborhood associations in the suburbs have tried to restrict the displays but most places seem to allow them. If you give it a few weeks you will see some lists put together by local media of the best displays in area. It's a lot of fun to drive around and see them. You should also check out the parade of lights. Its the first weekend in December and they light up the city and county bldg in downtown Denver and have a parade. Great for the kids and lots of fun for adults too. Its cold though so make sure you bundle up.

The Rocky will publish a where the lights are and include good route maps.

We take one section at a time and go every other night, from about the 18 or 19th of December.

Thank you! I figured the local news would have ideas as well, but I don't even know which publications are out there yet . .

There are two main newspapers, the Rocky Mountain News and the Denver Post. The Rocky puts out a list (probably pretty soon) of the best light displays. One place you will want to check out is Main Street in downtown Littleton, it's beautiful this time of year. You cant miss it!

Here is the URL for the online service RMN offers. Its really cool, uses Yahoo maps to plan routes and offers ratings.

There is a good site if you want to go to the southern suburbs. It's called Holiday Lights in South Metro Denver: Littleton and Englewood. it inludes some houses and some places where you pay an admission fee. I like the lights at chatfield, too.
