Hello,
My husband and I just moved to Colorado and we're starting to figure out what areas we like. I'm wondering what the opinions are about Golden and Brighton. I know it comes down to personal preference, but still, I would like to know. I like Golden because it has a small cute town feel but it's close to Downtown, well fairly close. I also like Brighton, but mostly because you can get more house for the money. I'm really all accross the board on where we could like. We have been reccommended the Highlands area by about 5 different people and we love it, but are moving from a very very similar area in Phoenix,AZ. My questions about Brighton are... Where the hell is the stuff? IE: Grocery stores, Target? Did I just drive through the ghost town part and compleatly miss those things, or do they not really exist in Brighton yet? OK one more thing. We are currently in corprate housing in Broomfield/westminster area and we like it, it's suburbish like every other area. I'm feeling like I want the mountain-rural feel but close to city life. Is this possible for under $350,000? OK two more things, I lied. We are a young couple 27&36. No kids yet and my husband works off of Pecos and the 36 turnpike (bad neighborhood.) How are the commutes from Brighton and Golden? ok, I think that's it. Thanks Folks ![]() |

I've always enjoyed the feel of Golden. I don't know much about Brighton though. Have you thought of other areas? We live in Louisville, just up Hwy 36 towards Boulder and we love it. Best Places to Live: Top 100 - Louisville, Colo. (3) - Money Magazine

You will probably be closer to your husband's job if you locate in Brighton. I have seen grocery stores, etc driving in there on highway 7, I believe it is. You probably need to just go out and drive around. Also close to your hubby's job are Westminster, Lafayette and Louisville. Broomfield has areas that are very suburban and areas that are less so. It seems to have a good sense of community.

I lived in Brighton for 4 years and watched it grow. There was no traffic when I first got there, sometimes I was the only one on the road. Many nights on my way home I was the only car. Now there are lots of new stores and cars. Target, Home Depot, etc.. are all there as well as a new Medical Center (soon to open or already has) right off of hwy 76 at exit 22 Bromley Lane. Not sure where you have been looking for stores. There are plenty! I loved the open space and the quiet up there. Housing is affordable however rising in cost which is good for resale. Lots of first time buyers are up there in all of the new track homes all along 160th ave. I lived on the east side of 76 which is a bit more rual and I loved it. I now live in San Francisco and love this too.. Quite a bit different but I grew up on the east coast so this suits me as well..
