Hey everyone, my fiancé and I are looking at moving to the Denver area in the next few months, but aren't sure of what town to look at. Right now we live in New Jersey, but are going to be moving once we have jobs lined up. Any advice/ideas would be greatly appreciated!

A little about us/what we are looking for - we are both in our mid 20s and are looking for an apartment to rent. We want to avoid living in downtown Denver, we would prefer a smaller town vibe, preferably one that has a central shopping/dining area for us to hang out in. We both love the outdoors (hiking, running, skiing, etc.) so close access to running/hiking trails would be ideal. We are looking at spending around $1500/month for a 2 bedroom, pet friendly apartment. Is this a reasonable expectation or are we being too optimistic? My fiancé has a couple interviews lined up in the Colorado Springs/Denver areas in the beginning of February, so we are coming out for a visit and want to have some ideas on where to look to move to.

Thanks again for your help!

Job first, then focus on where you can live.

Depending on how far someone lives from the area they are moving to, it's just not easy to get a job before doing the move. We lived in So Calif. before moving to Englewood. We both sent resume's to companies in metro Denver. I never got a reply back and wife got one reply stating "when you get here, give us a call for an interview". Wife got a descent job within a month after we moved to Englewood. It took me longer, because I had no college degree.

What I did was put "Relocating to Denver on ____ ".
It's a white lie, but it can save you during the weed out process. Companies don't want to pay relocating if they don't need to. Just make sure it's not too soon, or they might ask for an interview without offering to pay for your travel, or too late, and they will just assume you will take too long to move.
