Hi,
My boyfriend and I are new to denver and are having trouble meeting people. Would really appreciate any advice on where to find a group of friends. We go to the mountains and hang out around town, but with just the two of us it is a bit lonely. Thank you for your time.

There are a variety of internet-based venues for meeting people, frex
Meetups near Denver, CO - Meetup.com, which is organized by interest group, or
Denver Events - Fun Events Free Events Make new friends in Denver, Meet new people in Denver - MEETin.org, which is organized by location.

If you have any particular hobbies, you might be able to find local groups via google or even craigslist (the community section).

Volunteering and service is always a great way to meet others, particularly if you do it in your own neighborhood. You could also try getting involved in your neighborhood association, if you live in Denver. For example, Cap Hill has CPUN, its neighborhood organization which is very active and is always putting on activities for its residents. It would be a great way to serve your community as well as make friends at the same time!

There are many churches with young adult groups, if that is your thing. Many do a lot of social stuff such as ski trips, etc.

How old are ya? Where ya from? What do you like to do?

I also just moved to town a month ago. I'm having a great time. Meeting people, but it takes a little time. A lot of the people I have been hanging out with are through work. Also starting to meet some people in my apartment building.

Anyway, the point of this post.... is if you're in my age range and want to hang out let me know! I'm 27, also have a girlfriend. Send me a DM [mod cut]

Tim

p.s. I like to hang out, like to go out, like to snowboard, watch movies, play games, good conversation, like to cook, etc. etc. (I know I'm pretty awesome.... )

Whatever hobbies you have, you usually can find a local group of people that have the same interest, and meet together. That is a great way. As another forumer mentioned, a church is a good place, if you attend church (like I do). If you don't go to church, I hope you think about going!

Tim, group: bots crawl the public space (not the profile area) gathering any email addys they find, then sell them to spammers. To get around that, anyone can put an email addy in their profile (go to MY SETTINGS), then people can click on our screen names to see it. Another way is to just trade DM's, a bit kloogy but it preserves everyone's privacy.

This is election year, providing another way to meet active interesting people. Although our caucus'es were held a few days ago, there's a lot of activity yet to occur. Denver hosts the Democratic National Convention (DNC) this summer. COL SPGS hosts the Colorado state Democratic convention. Just last night I attended a talk given here in COL SPGS at CO College by the very interesting blogger who writes The Daily Kos blog.
