Jefferson Square is pretty ghetto. It looks nice but its cheaply built and the low rents bring in people you don't usually want to live next to.

thanks for the heads up...that one looked pretty nice online, but its always better to have an opinion from someone who knows the area.

As it stands now I am leaning much more towards the Belmar area. I figure that its worth the longer commute (and I can go in at off hours mostly) to live in a nicer area.

Default Belmar complexes

NeuroSean,

Check out these complexes.
The Falls Apartments (where I live)
Parc Belmar
Waterside Apts
Hillside Pointe

Parc Belmar (which is right next to The Falls and looks nice). Waterside Apts. is a less expensive but fairly nice complex. There are much more expensive residences over and next to the retail on the "main streets" of Belmar. Check out these websites for more on those complexes. As far as The Falls is concerned...I absolutely love it there.

http://www.forrent.com/search/detail.asp?site=1015304 (The Falls Apts)

http://www.rent.com/rentals/colorado...ver/5737/?sp=1 (Hillside Pointe Apts)

www.belmarcolorado.com

Also, as far as the location of the Breakers being over-rated...I just don't like the area because it's not in an easily accessible location and is not within walking distance of anything...but that is just my opinion.

One last thing…if you look at the pictures posted by members on this (city-data) website, almost all of the pictures of Lakewood Colorado are of Belmar.

Let me know if you have more questions!! I'd be happy to help any way I can.

Thanks Bluesky, The Falls looks really nice, and is about what I was looking to pay. Hillside looked ok, though the reviews went on about bad management. I couldn't find too much about Waterside, it looks like it was bought up and renamed Riata at Belmar, but searching for that says that Parc Belmar used to be called that so I am a little confused.

Like I said though I really liked The Falls, and I plan to call shortly to see about their availability for Feb.

Thanks again for all the help!

Default The Falls

A few suggestions I have for when you call The Falls; Request a unit that faces one of the parkways (lawns between The Falls & the other complexes) or the pond, instead of the parking-lots. With as much notice as you have they should be able to accomidate you. Also, if you don't mind stairs...go for a unit on the 3rd floor or one with no-one above you (this pretty much is the case in any apartment complex in my opinion...I don't like people living above me). I have a Southwest facing unit and get a ton of sunshine and I love not having my balcony face the parking lot (the balcony's at this complex are fantastic).

I couldn't find much on Waterside either (strange...I know it exists)

To clear up the Riata issue....Parc Belmar used to be Riata and was renamed when purchased by new owners. Waterside is still called Waterside as far as I know.

Default DO NOT rent at Parc Belmar

I have lived here for just about a year and I can not wait to get out. There has been a management change and since that change everything has gone down hill. I can't get anyone to address any issues with the apartment. There is no parking. I hate living here. I will never recommend Parc Belmar to anyone.
With that said.....RUN as far away from Parc Belmar as you can.

Thanks

Jefferson Square apartments are right next door to the Post Office. The area, IMO, is shabby and run down.
I guess t depends on what you're looking for.
But, there is a nice WalMart (also other shopping) just down the street off Hampden.
I'll be completely honest with you... the only way to find a place to live is to actually visit Denver and see the apartments in person.
The apartment websites are so misleading, and very seldom do the complex's look half as good as they're represented to be.
Be wise and look before you rent.
