I am considering moving to Littleton, CO from California. A big consideration are the schools (esp. elementary) since I have 4 young daughters.

It seems that on the ratings from GreatSchools.org some of the schools are great (8 and above) and some of them aren't (7 and below). Also, when we look at which schools a home is assigned to on sites like redfin or Realtor.com we will frequently see 2 good rankings and one less than desirable (e.g. good elementary and high school but poorly ranked middle school).

With that in mind I have a few questions:
(1) What experiences do people have with the Littleton School District Open Enrollment process? Was it easy to get your child accepted to attend a school your address/home was not assigned to?

(2) What are the good schools and sub-par schools in Littleton (both elementary, middle and high)?

(3) Do you feel that some of the school rankings do not reflect the school's actual quality?

Thank you.

Easiest is to pick the school and move within the boundaries. Getting into a specific school is not guaranteed. You also have to provide transportation to and from.

Littleton is the mailing address for the City of Littleton County of Arapahoe, unincorporated Jefferson County and unincorporated Douglas County.

We recently considered this area and I would start with the Littleton Public School district - seem to have great rep and high rankings. Then consider the homes feeding to those schools...they may not be Littleton addresses (could be Centennial, I think).

When we moved, we had no problem with open enrollment into the school we wanted.

yes. using various websites (redfin is what we used) that let you search properties by school districts/school is super helpful. In general, folks will tell you that the best overall school districts in the denver metro area are probably cherry creek, littleton, douglas county and Jefferson county. That's mostly south and west of Denver proper. Of course, there are pockets of excellent public schools elsewhere, but in terms of overall districts, I think most would agree with what I said above.
