Default Where to live in Denver

I am re-locating to Denver to work at Denver's Children's Hospital. I am 25 year old woman who has little experience of the Denver area. Can anyone give me pointers on good areas to look for rentals. I would be looking for a one bedroom at about $1,000. I probably would be interested in Center City if I could afford. Any suggestions are welcomed. Also, as I will be out in a couple of weeks to visit the new position, I would like to view as many properties as possible. Is anyone aware of a rental agency that can take me on a tour. Thanks, K

You should have no trouble finding a place in your price range. Are you aware that Denver Children's Hospital is actually in Aurora? Just moved last fall. So I would say, look on the east side fo downtown. There is lots of information on this forum in the index, with links to threads. Happy hunting.

Good Luck!

Just curious: Are you from Philadelphia? That is the only city I know of that calls their downtown "Center City".

You might consider living in the Capitol Hill, Cheesman Park, or Congress Park neighborhoods, near Colfax Avenue. Then it's a straight shot east on Colfax to the Children's Hospital. These neighborhoods are also quite close to downtown, lively, safe, and reasonably cheap.

Another thing to be aware of is that RTD's 15 bus runs on Colfax from downtown past the Children's Hospital.

Children's Hospital is now at the old Fitzsimmons in Aurora. Does the 15 go there?

Yep the 15 does, but your best bet is the shuttle between both; the 20 (which actually uses 17 and 22nd at times) runs between both.

Default Lowry?

You may also want to check out Lowry -- it's probably about half-way between Children's and downtown Denver. There are some cool lofts there -- but I'm not totally sure about availability.

When my husband and I first moved here, we stayed at an apt complex called The Breakers (near Lowry). The apartments could've used a bit of updating, but we did love the amenities. It's a gated community with a rec center, several pools, a nice lake to walk around, and quite a few floorplans to choose from (the one we chose had an attached garage, which was wonderful!).

Good luck with your move! Children's is awesome -- our son goes there quite frequently. It's one of the best!

Hey, I am also moving to Denver to work at Denver Children's Hospital, and I will be needing an apartment for 3 to 6 month lease. I have been looking at Boutique Apartments, which is several buildings that have been recently refurbished, and then at Stapleton. Since I'm trying to keep costs down, since I will be living single for a few months, until my family can join me. They I guess we will move to the burbs.
I need to fly to Denver to go ahead and find an apartment sometime soon. OP, where are you coming from? I'm 50, married WF. Are you interested in meeting for the search? I'm kind of learning my way around Denver.
PM me if you are interested.

Thanks for the invite, but I think I will pass. My mom and I are checking it out together towards the end of March. If you do find a good complex to live at will you drop me a line. I will do the same. Thanks
