But, of course, I have been to Phoenix in the summer and it's unreal. The thread starter asked for negatives, so that's what I gave.

The plus side is you can just get a whole house fan and with the dry air, you don't need A/C. So, it's can be cheaper to cool your house than in the south.
I think it's sort of a point of pride. We have a friend who was constantly telling us "You don't need air conditioning in Denver" with a condescending smile on her face. She did like our swamp cooler, though. She also said you don't need air-conditioning in your car. I said that may be true if you're just driving to/from work. You usually don't need it in the morning, and you can suck it up on the way home. However, if you have a job that requires you to drive around during the day, such as realto, visiting nurse, etc, you need it, believe me! It does seem the newer houses are being built with A/C.

I have heard so much good about Denver. It really is good to hear the flip side too. As we know there is two sides to every coin. Thanks again to everyone who has shared. I am on my way to Denver for a weekend visit and this thread had given me some food for thought. Thanks again Denver!!

I friend's husband just passed away and my weekend visit has been pushed back a week. I'm taking some time off next week so I will have a long weekend to visit. It is not going to be all play like this weekend would have been. I'll be looking for jobs and apartments. I'm making notes of all the info I get here too. I want to pick the very best place to live !

That comes from the city of Greeley.. where they slaughter cows and smells up the entire downtown or northeast area.. sometimes it flows down here..

Here's the only reason I can come up with..
1. Likely a Nuclear Target in thermonuclear war..

Sorry, I just can't let this one slip by. Closer to the sun? Like 92,999,999 miles instead of 93,000,000?

Actually it is significant.

"UV exposure increases 8-10 percent with every 1,000 feet above sea level."

Our old-school former next door neighbor, from a previous generation, was that way about AC.
I *loved* our swamp cooler, it provided a bit of humidity along with cool air.

I always heard that everyone blamed Greeley's stockyards when it was really the oil refinery smell coming from Commerce City. I dunno what the true tale is, but that smell definitely comes around now and then, and Commerce City is a lot closer than Greeley.

I would think UV rates increase due to thinner air rather than actually being a miniscule amount closer to the sun.
