Substitute teaching in Denver?
I'm in the process of getting my paperwork together to submit it for my state sub license. I have no clue where to get my fingerprints done! Can someone help me out?
I'm also returning to school in Jan for my teaching license. Already have a degree, just need the post-bac licensure.
Are there any teachers on the board to give me some words of wisdom? It would be very much appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

My DD had to get fingerprinted to work at a day care. Her employer gave her a list of places, basically police stations and sherriff's departments. Some require appointments. I would call around to those places.

I'm not from Colorado, but my family & I was there for 5 years. We lived in Aurora and the area where we lived, our children attended Sunrise Elem. It is in Cherry Creek School District. Sunrise is on a year round track system. I loved it because they didn't have very long periods off. If you travel east on Hampden (opposite of the mountains), the homes are very large, new & wonderful neighborhoods. I love Colorado & wished my husband had gotten a good job offer there after retiring from the Navy (Buckley AFB), after 24 yrs of service. Unfortunately, we had to move to CT. Although, the pay scale is a lot more, the cost of living doubled. We would have stayed in CO forever. We can always eventually move back. I hope you'd ask about Cherry Creek School District. We were told by everyone we made the best choice.

As a teacher, you might want to look at this thread. It explains some of the Colorado education laws.

RE: ESL. Here it is called "Enlish Language Learning". The Boulder Valley Schools have a number of ELL students, particularly in central Boulder and Lafayette. Teaching jobs are competitive here, but an ESL master's might be your ticket.

Teaching in the Denver area
Hello! My husband, 1 year old daughter, and I are relocating to the Denver area next spring. I wondered how the market was for teachers, and if it was really difficult to find a teaching job. I recently applied for a Colorado License with endorsements in Social Studies. I currently hold a Pennsylvania teaching certificate in Social Studies, and I am teaching middle school Social Studies. We are really excited to move to Colorado, but a little clueless about the market for teaching jobs. Thanks!

There are a number of threads about teaching jobs in Colorado. You could do a search. In summary, they are competitive, meaning many applicants for every opening. You may have exactly what some district is looking for. Good luck!
