Thanks! I can handle the competative aspect, in western Pennsylvania teaching jobs are virtually non-existant for new teachers. I will keep my fingers crossed for luck in Colorado!

So I have heard. Where in W PA do you live? I am from Beaver Falls, originally.

I do not know what teachers are paid in PA? I thhink it is around 29K here in AZ. However, there are 756 teaching positions open.
AZ needs middle school teachers very badly. I would like to go to PA! I was born there. have you looked at monsterjobs.com or jobs.com? I am happy I just learned about Craigslist from this forum. Good luck to you. Oh and to "get in" here you can start as a sub. There is not a waiting list here. Just fax your apps to the admin.

I think she is moving to Denver. Lots of people start by subbing here, too.

You probably don't want to hear this, but teachers in this part of PA start in the 50s and average is about 80. Our district (Council Rock) has the highest paid teachers in the state. I think there are about 1000 applicants for every opening, and it makes me wonder how they wound up with some that they have...

LOL! There are hundreds in our district (Boulder Valley) for every positon, and I sometimes wonder the same thing! Mine is a parent's perspective. Anyway, I think the starting salary in BVSD is ~ $35,000 and goes up quickly.

I am considering perhaps the teacher fair at the end of March in Greeley, hopefully that helps. Denver School District seems to have quite a few postings right now in October, coming from W PA where there are zero postings, gives me some hope
(I currently teach at a private independent school, and trust me I will never see the 50s there, lol, I will be lucky to get to the 30s)

I am an intern in Perris California. I will be finished at the end of the Summer 2008. I will have three credentials, SS in Literature and Writing, SPED and my MS. I have passed all of my California Exams, just waiting to finish my credential program.
I would like to live and teach in Colorado. I will bring two young daughters with me. Any ideas of where to go, live and teach?
Thank you

Check out Denver School District's human resource page, it will link you to the available positions. There are a ton of elementary jobs listed right now. (just found this out through a little search) Everyone's saying how competative it is, but there are so many posted. I am also heading to Denver to teach and hopefully find a job teaching secondary Social Studies. Good luck to you!
