Douglas County schools are closed and now my office. I am still in bed and I will not be leaving the house.

I'm always surprised when I hear about offices closing. I have never worked anywhere that closed for something short of an officially declared state of emergency. You could take the day if you wanted but it came out of PTO. Or you could work from home, which is what I'm doing. I'm having a productive day so far since it's nice and quiet and the kiddo is the only distraction - and with unlimited screen time today so I can work, I'm far less interesting so not many distractions! lol!

This is how my wife's office operates. No snow days at all, but if you want to stay home, it will count as PTO. She doesn't have the luxury of working from home. My office will let me work from home if I choose. Also, depending on how the day is going, I'll usually leave an hour or so early to try and beat some of the traffic.

Having said that, I drove into work this morning and it wasn't that bad. Crazy that so many places are closing.

I was surprised that the CCSD also closed schools. We only have a couple of inches of snow at the most. Maybe it's due to the frigid temps combined with the snow....

It was the cold that closed Douglas County.
