I'm coming to Denver to visit and a friend told me about this new app called Funyado. Apparently it's only available in Denver. It positions itself as a personal activity guide and good to get the local experience as opposed to just seeing touristy things. Does anyone know anything about it? Is it reliable? Thanks!

I've never heard of it but I searched it and found this website - Funyado - Funyado | Fun Things to Do

Seems like it's an iPhone app. It's free to sign up and use so I'll check it out and let you know what I think!

My big question is: what is their business model?

I played around with the app a little bit today. Slow day at work before the break. Haha. It's basically an activity search tool. It does customize searches for you based on your personal inputs, which is interesting, but I wonder how that works. There was an option to search for free events. Unique. Anyways, seems helpful and doesn't include just touristy things around town.

There's no advertising, but you do need to sign up with an email address or Facebook, which was a little annoying. They say they don't spam. It looks like they are only on version 1.3, so my guess is they add in advertising later or maybe a premium version. I think I read that like 97% of the biggest revenue apps are freemium model...free to use, but need to pay for premium features.

If you're looking for an app with Denver events try this one:

Denver Events & Attractions Mobile App | VISIT DENVER

and pair it with TripAdvisor for sightseeing.
