Default Recommendations for easing the moving blues for 12 year old son

Howdy...been reading the board for awhile. I may be landing a job in Meridian and am interested in the Highland and Parker cities. We have a 12 year old son who is not crazy about moving because of his friends he has here. Does anyone know if the schools/cities offer any type of buddy or neighborhood programs to help ease the transition?

Thanks

check out this website for highlands ranch activities, there are plenty

Recreation

would probably be a good idea to call the school district as well to see if there are any in-school programs

There are plenty of kids and activities in Douglas County.

Is he 12 and going to 7th grade? If he is then he will be starting middle school with all the other kids.

The best way to meet people who become your friends is to find out what he likes to do and make sure he does it early and often (biking, baseball, tennis, skiing...)

We moved from New Orleans about 2yrs ago. My son was also 12 at the time. He has made so many good friends. I have found that the kids here are very open to newcommers since it happens so often. My son has not had a problem. Sure there were moments, especially at first, but now all is well, and he still keeps in touch with his old friends. It's amazing that once you move to Colorado how many of your old friends will come to visit!
