After watching the CNN documentary on Chicago tonight and learning about Caribou Ranch out SW of Denver, I am reminded of the 1972-73 time period when I worked as a waiter at Your Father's Mustache and two doors south on Larimer was an upstairs bar that had a band playing Chicago songs. I would go there often with dates and soak up their tunes. After seeing the documentary I am wondering if I was watching the real Chicago in their early years or just another band that was playing their hits which were emerging rapidly. Does anyone remember the name of that upstairs bar and can you recall whether it was the real Chicago playing there on a regular basis and I just didn't realize the significance of it. All fits with what I have just now learned about Caribou Ranch. I still have my Your Father's Mustache staff jacket.

Caribou Ranch is southwest of Boulder, northwest of Denver.

I doubt it was the real Chicago. By 72-73 time frame, they already had a half dozen albums out and were touring constantly to support them.

It could well have been the real Chicago. They recorded VI, VII, VIII, X, and XI at Caribou Ranch. The studio was damaged in a fire in the mid 80s and hasn't been used as a production facility since.

I know at least one of the members of the band (Walt Parazaider, I believe) lives or lived in Evergreen or Conifer.

Default Chicago in Larimer Square in early 70's

I had a 4:00 AM revelation that the upstairs bar in question was named "Chicago" also. Can anyone verify that from the '72 timeframe?
