My husband and I and our three kids (ages 2, 4, and 6) are thinking of visiting Denver and Breckinridge in mid April April 12-18). We cant go any earlier due to school and work. We are looking for kid friendly things to do. Every website I look at says any snow activties will be closed. Any suggestions on what to do?

Thanks.

The Denver Zoo, Botanic Gardens, Children's Museum, Elitch Gardens (opens 4/29), and Boondocks (2 locations - Northglenn & Parker) for starters.

April is prime mud season, but it may be dry enough for some lower elevation hiking - perhaps take a trip to Roxborough State Park or Castlewood Canyon State Park. The Plains Conservation Center in Aurora is also neat.

Skiing might still be ongoing. It depends. It could snow down here, too! Or it could be in the 70s/80s. A very changeable time of year.

Arapahoe Basin will be open for skiing and is not far from Breckenridge. The earliest they close is May, but are often open until June and sometimes later.
