Default O/T Background check

This is probably off topic but I hope someone will be able to help me out.

I will be renting an apartment and I see that most landlords and apartment complexes require background checks on the applicants. Does anyone know what info is in a background check?

Thanks.

They check your city-data posts.

Probably employment, work history...Not sure about criminal activity. I would imagine anything that is public record is easily obtained.

What if my credit sucks but I have cash and a perfect rental history not to mention I will have a job before I try.

Is Denver a credit happy town?

Also I dont know anyone with good credit so a cosigner is out. More deposit may be OK.

Anybody know a management company or landlord that relies less or doesnt run credit checks. We need a house with a fenced yard and have a dog. Probably not moving until mid 09

If you have a perfect rental history, then a letter of recommendation from a previous landlord might be a good thing to take with you.
