Event hough marijuana is legalized in Colorado there is a per se DUI law meaning that even the slightest trace of marijuana in the system is illegal. This means that even if you smoked a joint a couple of months ago and nothing since then and are completely and totally sober you could still get busted.

Are pot users living there paranoid about getting pulled over for random drug tests and at checkpoints all the time?

Denver seems like a nice destination to move to as long as you don't have to drive. That being said are there any neighborhoods where you don't need to drive and can walk everywhere?

The only test that goes back a few months would be a hair test, which I doubt they do as they are extremely expensive. I'd assume if they were testing, it would be a urine test.

It will usually be a "swab test" in the mouth, they only see use a day or two back and are the easiest to beat (use a Lysterine breath strip right before the test- if possible!)

The "law states that in instances where THC is identified in a driver's blood in quantities of 5ng/ml or higher" part is important. 5ng is not a whole lot, but testing has gotten sophisticated enough that it can be assessed with reasonable accuracy so if you really did smoke a single joint a month ago, got a contact high at the bar last weekend, or burned a bowl earlier in the morning. There also is the probable cause and habitual offender clause in there as well. And yes, we do see roadside checkpoints during some holidays.

Are smokers paranoid if they are driving stone...IMO, they should be. If they truly did smoke yesterday, than no, they shouldn't be worried at all.

Don't want to drive, use a cab, or Uber or Lyft, or live downtown.
