I really haven't factored in winter weather to the commute time. He does commute 40-60 minutes now depending on traffic. DD commuted 35-45 min. her freshman year as well. I guess we could consider looking at apartments for her or possible consider a place in Ft. Collins and look at CSU.

DH will be there tomorrow and the next day and is saying in Thornton and will make that drive up to Loveland. I'm sure he'll check out Ft. Collins while he is up there too. He'll get a feel for the drive. One of the apts. we are looking at for around a 6 month stay is Palisade Park.

This makes the most sense.
As the crow files distance from his work location to CSU is 14 miles.
Distance to CU is 30.
And, the northern commutes would be much easier even if the distances were identical.

CSU is an excellent school.

The plan is for her to do her Sophomore year here while she will still have in-state tuition and by next year, she can finish up Jr and Sr. year in CO with in-state tuition. In the meantime, she can check out both CSU and UC to see which she prefers. After a this coming year out of the house, while she's saying she wants to come back and live with us, she might decide she likes being in her own place.

Here are the regs for getting in-state tuition. It's more than just living here for a year.
Frequently Asked Questions - Colorado Higher Education Residency Guide

She does need to get moving to go to either of these schools in the fall.

Thanks! I had looked over those already. She's 18 and our dependent. We will be establishing domicile in CO. I'm planning on chatting with the school once we know which school she will transfer to.

Thanks! He's there now and it's a go! He's checking out a few apartments in the area. He drove from 120th to his job and it was right at 40 minutes with a couple of slow downs. However with that said, we are looking at just a couple of places around 144th and north of there. He's also checking out Ft. Collins.
