Work would be on Fiddlers Green in Greenwood Village. We are a family of four, would rent in year 1, budget under 2000, would like a 3 br, preferably a house or townhouse. Would probably drive to work unless there's easy public transportation. Commute time of less than 40 minutes one way is bearable.

Safe schools would be nice. Is the answer to my riddle Highlands Ranch?

I am in DC right now for my college reunion. There is light rail close by.

Higlands Ranch, Centennial, Littleton, lone tree, Parker, parts of south east Aurora.

Higlands Ranch is a subdivision not a city. But it does have 8 pools, 4 rec centers, tennis, workout equipment, classes, camps...

My first thought was Highlands Ranch. Should be able to find at least a 3 bedroom apartment for under $2k.

My in-laws live there & DH grew up there, and they LOVE to take us to the recreational facilities, which are pretty nice and great for kids. There's also summer park concerts, and other family themed events like Touch-a-Truck, some kid thing at a park, etc. Their part is a Littleton address.

Lots of restaurants, family friendly, don't have to live next to a recreational pot shop, nice parks, etc.

Lone Tree might be another option.

Hey thanks guys. Housing stock looks decent, but I guess we are a bit of a trek from Denver. My work office looks like it would be far from Denver.

I don't want to take this another direction, but would an Asian family stand out in HR?

Not sure how much you have researched but finding a 3 bedroom townhome/house under 2k could be a bit of a challenge. Big demand for that price range.

With a name like Gaylord Focker, I would think so.

Highlands ranch is super expensive. 3 bedroom under 2k is highly unlikely there.

I am in a similar situation, work in greenwood village with a family of four. We ended up renting a place in Castle Pines while our house in Castle Rock is being completed. the commute from Castle Rock is roughly 30 minutes, maybe a little more if there is heavy traffic so its within your range (same time range I was working with).

Housing is a bit more affordable down in Castle Rock and the community is quite nice.

30 minutes is a piece of cake compared to what I go through every day in DC. Castle Rock? I'll look it up.

You can look at the racial dot map to see - The Racial Dot Map: One Dot Per Person for the Entire U.S.

(Passed to me by someone else on this forum - it's been helpful for evaluating Aurora neighborhoods for diversity.)
