Moving from a 2br house in FL into a 1br apartment in Denver, so need a storage unit for some things. The last couple of storage units I've rented required renter's insurance, and the first one I checked with this time requires renter's and flood insurance. I'd prefer not to have to pay that, the stuff I'm putting in storage is important enough to keep but not so important that I'd be terribly upset in the unlikely event that something happened to it.

Any facilities in the area that don't have insurance requirements? Better if it's in the Littleton/Englewood/south Lakewood area

Flood insurance is strange request, it's not really intended for coverage contents of a property. If the place you are in asks for it then they must be in a flood zone so other places should not have such requirements.

Renters is going to be hard to get around because the building has a policy that almost certainly will require it. Maybe if the storage building is owned by someone free and clear they might find a way around it, but even then hard to say. Anyways renters insurance is cheap and is based on your residence, not the storage unit. Renters policies extend to storage units so get one for wherever you live for $10-15 a month and then show proof of that and you should have no problems. I would avoid a policy sold just for your storage items, those are pure profit for them.

When I had my stuff in storage, I got coverage through the storage company, I think it was like $6 a month or something. I was in the process of selling my house and then I was living with family while my new house was being built so I couldn't rely on my own policy but it was cheap enough to just do it through the storage place and not have think about it.

I think most reputable storage facilities require insurance. Just like some apartment complexes require renters insurance.

I recommend Extra Space Self Storage, they have climate controlled units. We used the facility off of Bowles and C470, and it worked out well for us, they also have one at Belleview and Kipling.
