I would guess unrelated, at least directly, to the HQ2 location decision. But possibly what I think TPTB were going for, which was to put the Denver metro on the radar for these kinds of smaller opportunities by being able to showcase what the area offers in the HQ2 proposal.

Amazon bought an additional 77 acres of land adjacent to the Boston distribution center. Indicator or just noise?

Before the legislature intervened, Formula 1 was getting $25 million per year to host that asinine race in Austin. Now it's a mere $17 or $19 million (and 100% government waste).

I lived in the Metromess for over a decade. Have zero desire to ever live in Texas again.

And where do you live now that is to your liking?

Denver burbs. Better climate and exponentially better scenery and outdoor recreation opportunities. The only outdoor category where DFW beats Denver is lakes, but the lakes in DFW are chock full of drunk morons and the water is thoroughly skanky.

I split my time in Denver and Philly (Warning: Philly opinion forthcoming...)

Although I'm not convinced that Amazon choosing your city as their next HQ will be a good thing, I do believe that if they really want all of their RFP requests, Philly should represent well.

The proposed location that makes the most sense is the Schuylkill Yards. It's literally right across the river (of the same name) from Center City and right next to 30th street station - a rail hub that connects DC-PHL-NY-Bos as well as all of the suburban Philly towns. You can walk and catch the train to the Int'l Airport and be there in 20 minutes, door-to-door. It's also next to Dexel, Penn and several other big schools. Housing is affordable, especially for a major historical and cultural east coast town with full amenities.

This has to be the only major city in the country with this type of available space literally in the center of the city.

We'll see what happens but Philly checks all the boxes. Pittsburgh seems like it might be a bit out of the way. And I think that such the Uber-liberal that Bezos is might preclude him from a southern city (which could be completely off base).

For the record, I would prefer that they don't choose Philly. This has "careful what you wish for" written all over it for me.
