Hello All,

I have a European friend that will be visiting Denver by end of October to attend a Conference for Cardiologists, he is planning to stay 5 days after the conference is done to explore the scenic state of Colorado prior to returning overseas. I am driving from Vegas and will be meeting him there after the conclusion of the conference.

So basically we have 4 days from 2nd till the 5th of November to tour the area. I would love the advice of Denver residents on where to visit knowing that he is flying back from Denver airport on the 6th 9:00am.

I need to plan my trip and book hotels for this visit. Please tell me what are the must see places in Colorado given that we have a car and can drive and stay overnight in other places besides Denver. Please mention the driving distance in miles and hours.

I appreciate your help and thanks in advance.

I just hosted my family from Australia, it was there first time in the states and ofcourse Colorado. We did the following;

Brewery Tours - Ft Collins - Around 60 minutes from downtown Denver. My sister is not a huge beer drinker but she enjoyed the tour especially the New Belgium tour.

Rocky Mountain National Park - Around 2 Hrs from Denver - That is to the Bear Lake Parking Lot. We did a short hike up to the falls. You can also do the other side of Rocky Mountain National which is Wild Basin, that is about a 90-minute drive and you hit several waterfalls without having to go too far.

Boulder - 40 minute Drive from Denver - We hiked around Chautauqua and the Flatirons then went down to Pearl Street Mall.

St Marys Glacier - A beautiful spot about 1 hr and 10 mins from Denver. It is a 3/4 mile hike and good be icy or snowy depending on the weather at that time. The views are amazing up there though!

Cabelas and Bass Pro Shop - My brother in law is a country boy at heart and absolutely loved these stores. They are both close to downtown Denver.

Just to help clarify, Bear Lake and Wild Basin on both on the east side of RMNP - the west side of the park has Adams Falls/Shadow Mtn. Lookout Tower/etc and then the chain of Grand Lake/Shadow Mountain Lake/Lake Granby. Note that anyone planning on hitting the west side should keep an eye on Trail Ridge Road, which will be shutting down for the winter soon:

You may want to also consider heading south of Denver to Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region including Garden of the Gods. That's roughly 90 minutes away from Denver. And another 90 to 120 minutes southwest of that is Royal Gorge.
