My wife posed an interesting question as we have been looking at real estate... we don't see many homes with barred front doors (example here: https://www.redfin.com/CO/Arvada/114.../home/34389137

In Chicago (bad areas) these are common, I am guessing they are decorative in Colorado?

Thanks!
2200sf, significant updates, big lot, a block from a park, and under $400K. The only question I have is why you didn't bid on it the moment you found it.

What you have to beware of is.........bars on the windows of homes, liquor stores and some gas stations. When I worked for a company on Larimer Street in downtown Denver, the front door had bars on it. The liquor store across the street had bars on the front door and the windows. I worked from 7AM to 3:30PM. At 3;30PM, I was gone. There was no way I was going to be in the area after dark.
