I am in need of a studio or one bedroom apartment. I don't earn more than $36,000 but I am too high for the affordable living apartments.
I don't drive so I need an apartment close to the light rail so that I can get to the business section of Denver.
I am not into looking for a roommate. Also have pets.

Default Safest area near light rail to find a cheap apartment

Recommendations for an apartment for a single person that is affordable near the light rail. No car, have pets.
Also, how does that "affordable" living work? I see there is an income cap of $35230 a year for a single person. Do they monitor your wages and if you get a raise do they kick you out or just don't renew your lease?
Is there any other assistance for singles for housing?

What is your monthly budget?

What type of pets do you have?

Which business district do you need access to?

Padmapper is where you want to search. Here is the RTD rail map, but use google maps to get directions via public transit because there are plenty of apartments in your budget that are a short bus ride to California St. Most of the areas in Denver are safe. Come back with specific locations and we can tell you if they are safe.

Look around 9 Mile station on Parker Rd to see if you can get something in your budget. Can get an H line direct into downtown and also have some buses around if you want to go somewhere not on a light rail line. The area is ok, not the best looking and maybe not quite the safest, but not bad and you do have some amenities nearby to walk to such as King Soopers and a variety of low-cost restaurants.
