Curious if 4 days is enough time to see Denver and some of the surrounding areas? Planning a 3 night 4 day trip in September and Denver is on the short list. We'd like to see the city as well as some of the Rockies. Maybe do some hiking (nothing too intense) as well as some of the ski resort towns.

It's really gonna boil down to which resort towns you wanna checkout vs. how much time you plan to spend in Denver. If you only go as far as Winter Park or Summit County 4 days is probably enough time. Any further west (Vail, Steamboat Springs, Aspen, Glenwood Springs, Telluride, or Durango) and you'll probably need more time.

I'd definitely make it over to Summit County. It'll be quieter that time of year, which is really nice. There's so much to do there and it's a great sampling of Colorado. An absolute must is the gem and mineral show in Denver if you are there while it's happening, Sept 8-16 http://coliseumshow.com/mineralshow.php.

Forgot to add - take a gander at my hiking album and let me know if any of the hikes look interesting.

Thanks! I've done a few more hikes that I haven't added to my album yet. There are a few more state parks I need to get to - namely Eldorado Canyon, Cheyenne Mountain, and Lory. Recovering from a foot sprain at the moment so I haven't had a chance to hit the trail in a few weeks. I'm hoping to bag 2-3 more 14ers this year. I've got a buddy who's pushing me to do Shavano and Tabeguache with him.

Take into account the altitude for anything you plan. That can really mess you up if you're coming from sea level. I was never really that affected, but I've noticed that people on extreme ends of the fitness spectrum tend to be most affected.
