The majority of people here are great, but there really does seem to be a significant contingent of the population that takes the libertarian bent to a toxic extent where they think they can justify being a jerk because they're not legally obligated to cooperate with a larger society.

I'm from the Baltimore-Virginia area (excluding DC) and we have a ton of running rivers, bays and coastline for paddling all year long. This may be the only thing I like about the mid-Atlantic. I always envisioned CO as a great place for whitewater boating but you guys are making me think otherwise.

It’s an awesome place for whitewater! It is very seasonal though...

I know what your speaking of,In my younger days I was a Hot Stick Lineman for the Power Co..We would be out blocking half a lane of traffic on a two lane road ,with the stingers down on the road and dirt. Traffic would squeeze by at 50 -70 mph less than a foot from the trucks and taking out the cones.

I've spent the majority of my life in Milwaukee, so I'll start there.

What I miss about Milwaukee:
- Community/Neighborhoods. Milwaukee was a very extroverted and social city. You knew all your neighbors, and the neighborhood bars were a social gathering for all your friends. Never a shortage of block parties, bbqs, neighborhood street fairs, etc. People took pride in where they lived.
- Architecture. The city did a great job of re-purposing buildings in order to keep the style and look true to itself. It's great seeing a city grow into the modern age, while also complimenting it's history.
- Water. Rivers, lake, and the lakefront were great places to spend time during the summer.
- Urban density. I never realized how urban Milwaukee was until I left. Neighborhoods were laid out well, and transit was oriented around high density areas. Besides the big ones (NYC, DC, Chicago), Milwaukee was one of the best car-free cities I've lived in.
- Art culture. It was cool to see the art communities stay affordable and genuine. Not fabricated, yuppie, or pretentious.

What I don't miss about Milwaukee:
- Long, dark, cool, wet, muddy winters.
- High Taxes
- Stagnant population. No one really leaves or moves in. You have a lot more people set in their ways which prevents innovation or an injection of new culture.
- Mediocre sports teams/no NHL presence

What I like about Denver:
- Plenty of like minded adventurous people
- Proximity to the mountains
- Lack of humidity
- Warm/Sunny winters. While I miss the winter of the north, it is nice to be able to partake in all of your hobbies year round.
- It's pointless to keep listing things that have already been stated.

What I don't like about Denver:
- The amount of interesting/historical buildings and homes getting leveled for development. It would be nice if the developers tried to maintain some aesthetic to the neighborhoods.
- Transient population. There isn't really a sense of community here. Not enough people try to make Denver their new home, or try to reach out in their community.
- Crowds in the mountains and the amount of people who trash trails and campsites. It seems to be easier to find solitude right outside of LA than it does in Denver (some days).
- Poorly trained off leash dogs everywhere.
- General annoyance of a mostly millennial population (I'm a Millennial).

I used to sail on the Chesapeake Bay, which I missed a whole lot when I moved to Colorado. But, then again, there's no champagne powder to ski on in Maryland!

Great whitewater rafting and kayaking in Colorado, especially on the Arkansas River. Both Salida and Buena Vista have river parks with eddy lines.
