Hi,
I am relocating to the Denver metro area and am looking to continue my home-based business activities, which mainly consist of strategy and business research for companies and organizations as a solo consultant. I'm pretty sure I want to settle in either Denver or Jefferson County. I'm looking for guidance on any zoning restrictions in various localities that might negatively affect my ability to start working from home right away. I'm hoping to avoid some bureaucracy taking weeks to approve some kind of occupancy permit(s) or whatever else is required. My business isn't complex, just working at home and an occasional trip for meetings and errands. I don't need to meet clients at home, but I would like to use it as a business address. Can anyone who's been through the process of analyzing and comparing the local municipalities for business purposes clue me in? Are there certain ones I should seriously consider avoiding for the hassle factor? Thanks very much! |

Not seeing an issue with that. While I cannot comment on each city, I can say that it is easy with Aurora. As a business all you need to do is to file for a business license (~$30) and keep renewing it every year (~$20). It is a two page item mainly to see if you work on service or products and if you have any hazardous materials at your location.
