I currently rent an apartment in North Aurora (Alameda and Havana), I have been here since last summer.I would not want to buy a house in this area. What other areas might I consider for a house in a good neighborhood in myprice range? I won't consider a town home. I want a SFR. I work at I-225 and I-70, which is the reason I had been focusing on Aurora. But there isnot much here to my liking. Green Valley Ranch has many incredible deals, but GVR is foreclosure central. So even though I can buy a house for 100Kthat sold for 180K just 6 months ago, who can say what this neighborhoodwill become in the future. I don't know Denver metro well enough to know whereelse to look. Please give me your insights. Thank you.

GVR is in transition and could be an issue on how the areas turns out post f-closure era but still may be a good area to give it a look at. Commerce city is the other options for this value.

well I think it might still be too risky to buy in GVR. Hard to imagine, but prices mightcontinue to go down there. It might end up being an immigrant village because of theprices. I would like to find a stable neighborhood in my price range (which is 120K).I will look into Commerce City, thanks. Or I might have to move out of the state,Kansas City, or something like that.

I'd sit out the housing market in your price range for a while. I haven't heard anyone predict a good year in 2008 for the low end segment, so there's almost no risk of prices going up on you. It will give you more time to look around.
When you are ready, I'd look into more stable neighborhoods than GVR. There might be something in your price range in Northglenn, Westminster, etc; perhaps a 1950s ranch or something. |

If you take a look through COhomefinder.com, you can browse by neighborhood and zip code and street, etc, and then sort by price. There's a property valuation tool there, too, that I think links to Zillow if you're concerned about values. You can look in all areas of Colorado if you're open to that. Good luck!

candy... candy, I have been looking at real estate listings entirely, and mostly it's gotten me exhausted and confused. I was actually looking for somebody's subjective opinions, but thanks. Tfox, that is some good advice, thank you.

I was a visiting nurse in the Commerce City area for a while. There actually are some nice parts of town. You have to take it on a case by case basis.
