Snow in Denver on Christmas is a hit or miss proposition. We haven't had any significant snowfall yet this fall/winter, but the northern and central mountains west of the city are getting hammered.

Wouldn't count on it in the city limits, but quick trip to the mountains (90 mins) and you'll find lots!

If the basic question is "should we bring snowshoes," no. If it's "will it likely be butt-freezing cold with a wind-chill factor and probably cold sprinkly things falling from the skies," yes. Pack warm.

Here are some stats from the National Weather Service. The odds of measurable snowfall on the ground on Christmas Day are about 38%, and the odds of measurable snowfall occurring on Christmas Day are around 15%. Still, pack warm clothes because it'll likely be cold.

Well you have your answer, but I'll just add there are some years I don't even break out the snow shovel; especially in Dec. Even during those Apr/May storms that blow through most years. Crazy. I live north and east tho which does not seem to be in the snow belt for this particular area.

Not even. Long-term forecast for Dec-25 is mostly sunny in the upper 40's with lows in the upper 20's.

I wouldn't consider that but-freezing cold.

As for the OP, just go into the mountains. Plenty of snow there!

For fun in the snow for non-skiers of all ages, check the Fraser Tubing Hill west of Denver.

Long downhill ride & rope tow back uphill.

Having lived for six years in New England, I find Denver's weather even more surprisingly changeable. I wouldn't bet on "long term" forecasts for the win.

And unless I misread the OP, they're coming from Flawidah. You and I might regard upper 20s as brisk and 40s as comfy, but.

OP seems to be more worried about snow than looking for it.

I don't consider that "butt-freezing" cold either, but you'd be surprised how many do.

The weather is changeable for sure. The forecasts are fairly accurate. Of course, the closer to the date, the more accurate the forecast is. It is less than 2 weeks until Christmas. Yikes!
