I’ve lived in Denver for over a decade and I’ve never took anything to the dump as I usually just load up my trailer and take it when I visit my parents in the Dakotas. It’s like 8 dollars or free if I use my parents water bill.

I have to toss some furniture away and holy **** they charge an arm and leg for the landfill here. I tried giving it away for free and no luck. I can see why there’s such a huge problem with people dumping trash and stuff all over now.

I’ll sawzall my couch down and put it in my trash bin over a few months before I pay 80 bucks!

Proves yet again that we get what we pay for. Denver is run by adults who realize it takes plenty of services to run a ship-shape city. Good for Denver.

On the other hand, I spent 11 years in COLO SPGS and saw that you can't run a city on ultra low taxes and an "every man for himself" or "you're on your own" mentality. That city has a constant issue with certain areas becoming dumping grounds which taxpayers repeatedly pay to have dredged up and hauled off. I left. I now live in Peoria, AZ where twice a year, at your curb, the city collects large items, at no added cost. My taxes here are a bit higher .... but I get what I need and there's no hassle or worrying about it or running around trying to find a solution. Here it's not "every man for himself" -- it's one for all and all for one, the way it should be.

I appreciate the OPs desire to put these items in the proper disposal site, and hope he finds a solution.

Yeah. I guess I asked for it. Around Denver!
I would hate living downtown, I’d move to Golden if the wife would go for it.

Lakewood has free big item pick up but you missed it in Oct. It will come around again next year.
City of Lakewood Cleanup Days!

Most of the metro area cities do this.

Westminster does also and ours is in the spring but cost $30 now. Used to be free. We also don't have city trash but we do have hazardous waste disposal and large item clean up.

So hauling back to the Dakotas isn't an option this time? Although that seems really cost ineffective compared to using a local dump, your mileage may vary. You can also check with the county offices to see if they offer anything.

Not to be pedantic, but you don't need to live in downtown to live in Denver. We live in Denver, about 11 miles from downtown.

Anyone know if 311 works for residents outside of Denver?

Then do it and call it done.
