Default kids and cheesman park

Hi! I have applied to rent an apartment in a house on the west side of cheesman park (near capital hill). We have a toddler. Are there any kids in this neighborhood? We don't need a ton of kids around, but it'd be nice if there were some. Or is it all 20-somethings whose good time we will spoil?

I live in Wash DC now and so won't be able to see it until we move out there in May.

Thanks so much!

That is not a very child dense neighborhood, but you will find some children on the playground that is situated towards the northwest end of the park.

As an aside, I'm not going to spoil the magic of Cheeseman Park for you.

There are 8439 people in the Cheesman Park neighborhood, but only 185 students enrolled in DPS from Cheesman Park neighborhood. Congress Park, just to the east of Cheesman Park, has quite a few more school-age kids, 503 out of a total population of 10678.

Of course, that doesn't count pre-school age kids or kids not going to DPS, but I think that the numbers show that Cheesman doesn't have a huge number of kids.

Hmmm... Why would that be? Why aren't women getting pregnant in this neighborhood?

Spend the day in Cheeseman. It's alot of fun, but it will become very obvious why people don't take their kids there.

Someone needs to let the OP in on what we all know. Cheesman Park is well known for being a very gay and lesbian friendly neighborhood, and doubtless a very high percentage of residents are GLBT.

There is a preschool at the corner of 13th and Gilpin--Warren Village.
They can sometimes be found playing in Cheesman Park.
It is certainly not unheard of to take your kids to Cheesman. Many a time I waited for hours on end in many a Botanic Gardens concert line there on the west side of Botanic, which is in Cheesman.
Never, in 18 years, did I see any horrid behavior.
But if you freak out at the thought of what you might see at Cheesman, there is always *little* Cheesman, across the street, between 7th and 8th and Williams and High. A couple of times, I did see nude sunbathers there.
