I'm curious about something I heard and have sort of 2 questions:

1) has Denver become sort of crowded because of weed being legal

2) isn't it very expensive especially around DU?

-Marijuana is legal in many states now. No one cares.
-item 2 is confusing, assume you are talking about the cost of weed? You are allowed to grow it your self.

Oh, sorry. The second question refers to the COL, cost of living. Rent, I mean mostly.

The first question, people poured into the state because of marijuana legalization.

While researching Loveland area to move to, we were told "if you aren't looking for marijuana, you wouldn't even know it was legal here". But, this answer came from a Loveland resident, not from Denver or other big city.

Robert, your first question has been discussed over and over on this forum. I suggest you spend some time looking through those threads.

Regarding your second question, COL is quite high in the entire Denver metro area, not just around DU. Are you looking for something in particular? What is your budget?

People came here for marijuana but not in mass like you might think. It has had minimal effect when it comes to COL. I am not saying it didn't have any effect but it is tiny in the grand scheme of things.

there are more expensive places to live. Only you can be the judge if Denver's COL represents enough value.

not mentioned as yet here:
-back 2010 Denver was one of the first cities to pull out of the great recession. It had improved employment and a robust housing market. Denver has never looked back and has been able to continue to move forward.

Tourism is booming, some of that probably was kick started by weed. I don't think the growth on the residential side can really be supported by legal weed. And area near DU isn't that expensive, but its half a mile to a mile from some higher cost real estate like University Hills and Wash Park. Places that are easy walking distance to DU aren't that expensive relative to the rest of the city.
