I'm moving to Denver on June 1st and I'm looking for some advice on loft or apartments downtown. I'd like to live near Lodo, Ballpark, 16th street mall area. I've looked at The Boulevard, Premier Lofts, 1600 Glenarm and a few others. My maximum rent is $1500/month. I'm looking for a 1 bdrm/1 bath. Any specific thoughts about these or any others. I know where to look to find apartments but I'm basically asking for any advice on any to avoid or any that are really fantastic to live in. 'm a 28-year old single male dentist. I'd like a little more upscale lofts...I basically don't want to be in a building that is full of partying just out of college students.

I think the places you are looking at meet what you are looking for. None of the ones you've listed (that I know of) are party central. I think the cost is what keeps them out. Cheaper place, cheaper apt. Know what I mean?

You could try to look for rentals from individual owners on Craigslist. Most lofts, in particular, are individually owned, not corporate-owned. Another couple of corporate-owned buildings are the Manhattan and Commons Park West.

i fit your demographic and signed a lease for 6/1 at stations at riverfront - on 15th / little raven. not a loft but nice places and in your price range for a 1br. some complain that they can hear the train. good location though and cheaper than premier lofts. it might just be me but i was turned off by the people at premier lofts.

Actually, all of the places the OP listed are renting, not owned by condo owners who are renting. I am currently looking to rent downtown too, just not at that price. More like $1100. The Boulevard has some good rates, but I didn't like the fact that they hardly have any balconies. Did you know they have a salt-water pool opened year round?? Or is that the Retreat at the Park? Can't remember, I might be mixing them up. I liked the Retreat's prices and amenities, but the guy I talked to really made me not want to rent there, pretty snotty.

Thanks for the advice guys. I think it's interesting to see the effect the DNC is having on the apartment market. I just checked out Craiglist and to me it seems like there is a huge lack for apartment selection and a lot of them have the option to lease short term. I think this has a LOT to do with the DNC. Do you think there will be a gluttony of apartments available early Sep after it?

I'm not sure about DNC affecting rents. What I see more of is the housing crash. All of these people are losing their homes and are being forced to move into apts. They are also finally getting that living downtown or at least closer costs a lot less. The apt. mgrs. in turn, are jacking up rates. Be careful with Craigslist. I'm actively looking too. Some of the listings on Craigs are total scams, especially with Denver apts. I know because I called the actual buildings and they confirmed. There are a lot of leasing short terms, but I think again this is due to the housing crash. It seems like some kind of after effect. Maybe you are right, after the DNC things might calm down.
