Default Westminster area...

If my husband got a job in Westminster, what are many of the bedroom communities or other cities around and in driving distance (20min max) that are not extremely expensive re: housing costs?

Our preferred budget would be around $225k max....thank you. We'd need a 3 or 4bed 2bath, 2cg and it'd be nice to have a house in a newer subdivision...is that too much to ask here around Westminster?

Please help.

You could live in Westminster, if you dropped the requirement for a "newer" subdivision. Is there a reason you haven't considered this?

I second the suggestion for Westminster itself, especially to start.

I third the Westminster suggestion, my best friend lives up there and loves the area. A lot of the established communities and older houses look pretty nice too.

Ok, we are open to a home built between 1995-present.

We have 3 kids....could someone please give some other local communities/towns that would be local to Westminster? And considered a nice/safe area.

Thank you.

Broomfield, Northglenn, Thornton, Denver, Federal Hts, Arvada, Wheat Ridge, Lafayette, Superior. If you are moving there you really should get a map.

Thanks. We do have a map...but it's difficult when you've never been to a city, to know where the shady towns are vs. the safer, prettier areas.

I know in the area where we live, there are certain towns per se, that I would steer anyone away from living...that is what I am asking.

Are all the above areas nicer and safer areas? Any certain streets/intersections to stay away from?

Didn't mean to come across as sarcastic, but yes, you can tell from a map which communities are close to Westminster. Are they safe? Yes. Are there "good" and "bad" areas in these places? Sort of. It's hard to define that, as it is a personal thing. Broomfield is probably the most upscale of the areas I mentioned, though it's not out of sight. You might be able to find a house in your price range there that has been built since 1995. Lafayette is probably more affordable, but a little farther. The fact that everyone is saying 'start with Westminster' should tell you that Westminster is OK.
