My favorite suburbs are Littleton and Centennial. Littleton is a good older community with an accessible downtown that has a few blocks of good small shops. For those whole use it, there is a light rail station downtown (and one a little further south). Outside of downtown, Littleton has some nice middle-class neighborhoods and then further south in Littleton are some upscale multi-million dollar houses. Since there aren't too many main roads that cut through Littleton there isn't too much traffic except on the edges (Santa Fe, Broadway). It's also maintained it's own street name system so you won't find Pecos at 1600 west, but you'll find Windermere and so on. It has a nice little museum with free admission which is next to a good lake to walk around and the library. Littleton seems to have a good sense of community and a walkable downtown, much like Katiana describes with Louisville. Littleton is not the suburban sprawl that some people make it out to be. Areas with Littleton addresses may be, but Littleton itself is not.

Western Centennial is made up of mainly middle-class single family homes. You won't find many million dollar houses in this part of town, but go a few miles to Greenwood and Cherry Hills Villages and you will. The city has down a good job with streets, just repaving all of the residential streets, even the cul-de-sacs. Because of the way it is layed out - the perfect grid system with north-south arterials being a mile apart (Broadway - University is 1.5 miles but then University, Colorado, Holly, Quebec, Yosemite, etc exactly 1 mile apart) and east-west aterials also being a mile apart (Orchard, Arapahoe, Dry Creek, County Line) getting anywhere is quite easy and there is not a lot of traffic through neighborhoods unless you are going somewhere in the neighborhood. The Highline canal meanders through Centennial here. Access to shopping is very good with a multitude of grocery stores close to almost everybody. The new Streets At Southglenn has started opening hopefully creating a 'downtown' area much like Belmar and others. It will have good walkability and a nice mixture of small shops and restaurants, some chains, some local. The library system in Centennial is outstanding, one of the top 2 or 3 in all of Colorado. Parts of this part of town have the Littleton Public School district, which is a fine district and east of Holly is into Cherry Creek Schools. Neighborhood parks in every 'square mile' grid give easy access to playgrounds and green areas. While there is not light rail running through this part of Centennial, there is by going west 2-4 miles to Littleton or east 0-4 miles to I-25 (depending on what part of western Centennial you live in). Finally, Centennial is generally regarded as one of the safest, if not the safest suburb of Denver.
