oh, I thought of another observation.... the radio selection is horrible here. Those dorks from "alice" ugh... It seems like every station is either country or stuff like "alice" all they play is the Fray and colbie calay. I have a repeating record in my head of that song "I'm not gonna write you a love song, cause you blah blah blah " ha ha ha. Anyone else have that song stuck in their head

I see tons of smokers around (in Boulder), usually sitting directly under the 'no smoking' sign in the bus shelter
The prevalence of smokers is much more than I noticed in Boston or DC (there, it seemed to be mostly immigrants from Europe or Asia who smoked). |

I don't know what song you are talking about and boy am I glad! Yeah, Denver radio blows. Every time I go to one coast or the other, I think phew! new music! Hey, it'll hit Denver in a few months!

katy: There are tons of mom and pops here, but you have to really really look for 'em. And funny, I can't think of any names right now. Oh! Anthony's? There's a place my H goes to out in Aurora and he says they are awesome. Can't think of the name. But really, they are here, you just have to find them.

Not a fan of Starbucks. I've been once and only once. When I lived in the Denver area I used to go to Peaberry Coffee - Colorado's Finest Gourmet Coffee Shops - support the local guys.
As for Old Chicago, I've never had their pizza. I am a fan of their artichoke dip but mostly go with friends for beer and pool. If you go into older areas, you will find smaller restaurant offerings. Newer developments are going to be flooded with chain restaurants. It's the same down here in Colorado Springs. But I do like the fact that many chains (Concept Restaurants, Red Robin?, Chipotle, etc...) were started in Colorado so I have no problem giving them my business. Subarus are a good investment. Four-wheel (or all wheel?) economical with gas and cheaper on insurance than a big honkin' SUV. Colorado radio blows. Too many big corporate station owners have made for a very generic offering. C Springs used to have a smooth jazz station that was relaced by talk/news radio then Denver had theirs (I used to get it sometimes down here) and it too is gone. I do like KBCO but it's hit or miss if I can get it down here. It's still on my radio presets though in the car. I dig classic rock but dang if there aren't too many around the Front Range. They overlap and how they can possibly survive is beyond me. To get to know more about Colorado and such, check out the Denver Post's Colorado Sunday (or whatever it's called) section. They usually have a town they feature or parts to take a day or weekend trip and give you highlights for attractions and restaurants. Things that the locals know but few others don't. |

oh I miss Peabury!! What about Tuscany coffee downtown? They make the best chai and their bagels are the bomb. They get them from a Kosher deli.
ha! and my subaru? It lasted for years, very economical. |

I have done the world beer tour twice in 19 years.
I am a big fan of their Italian Nachos. Big Cookie for dessert with ice cream close second. |

Oh, no. I've never owned a car other than a subaru; bought the first car I ever owned in 1971, it was a subaru, the first year subarus were imported into the U.S.
Still drive a subaru. . . Last edited by suzco; 04-22-2008 at 05:54 PM. |
