Spent 25 years in Colorado. Very nice place, beautiful mountains.
But lets not be morons here. The weather pretty much sucks. |

I've been back in Denver for the last few days, and I'll be here for about a month. Even though I've lived the majority of my life here, everytime I've come back from Phoenix it looks like a new, foreign environment again. I agree that Denver's weather is not exactly ideal. It's been awfully cloudy here the last several days, I've noticed. Although from the stand point of offering variety and always changing, it sure does offer a grab bag of just about every type of weather (except hot and humid). Beena and sberdrow, sorry, but if you think Phoenix is the benchmark of good weather, then you don't even know what good weather is. Most Phoenicians have what I call "heat sickness," where their bodies' internal temperature is severely out of whack where they feel that 105 is normal, 80 degrees is chilly and 65 is freezing cold. I'm serious, someone should do a scientific study on this. Even by the standards of the desert southwest, Phoenix's climate is barbaric. Tucson, just 100 miles SE of Phoenix, is a dramatically more comforatable climate. Albuquerque, a city I'm considering moving to down the road, is an example of an excellent climate. If mild weather year round is what you like, then San Diego and LA are the benchmark of good weather, not Phoenix.
Denver's weather is a bit too cloudy for my tastes and the storms are wacky and unpredicable, but in terms of temperature range, Denver is about right for a continental climate-- the hot and cold extremes balance themselves out. It's like if you punch yourself on one side of your head, you have to punch yourself on the other side to even it out. ![]() |

I guess I must be the only one in the Denver area that finds our 4 seasons in one day out standing!
In the Spring, during the thunderstorms when the sky is pitch black to the East and the foreground is lit up by the sun in the west, it is one fantastic sight, photographically speaking. When you are up on the east side of Aurora, looking out across the valley to the mountains and see the so called isolated thunderstorms coming across from the foot hills, it almost takes my breath away. Then when you see the Verga where the rain evaporates before it hits the ground it sort of reminds me of the bottom of a bag of water that burst open. We have not had a tornato in the Denver area in over 15 years, we have not had any measurable snow this year (over 6 inches) and last year it got over 100 degrees maybe 10 times and you are complaining about a little rain storm? Go tell it to those people in the Ohio Valley how bad you have it. I have lived in the Denver area since 1968 and after living on both coasts and in the far east I will take this weather over any where else including Las Vegas. |

Didn't live there that long, but have to agree with Benna.....mainly the winter season weather we got totally tired of. Of course, once people get into their 60's, shoveling snow isn't fun anymore at all. Time to move on.

Have only seen 1 or two cloudy days here in phoenix in the last 3 months. Its been the best spring in my 40 years of being on this plannet. Its been in the 80s to the upper 90s but the gentle wind has kept it very comfortable. Vagaspilgram you might check out medford Oregon as your perfect weather. You have lots of sun, but not too much, you have 4 seasons, with an average temperature of 65 degrees. |

Once you leave a place like Colorado for better, sunnier weather, your lifestyle adjusts. Dramatically.
If it isn't snowing in Denver it is raining. I get a call from a friend back there....what are you doing today in Phoenix? Biking and hiking most of the day. You? Well we are getting a thunderstorm here today, so we had to cancel the memorial day picnic and are inside playing yahtzee. oh....cool. yahtzee versus boating, hiking, biking and golf. You pick.... |

Hahaha I just moved to freakin ASIA. If you think it's a challenge dealing with a bit a snow and wind then I don't think you've challenged yourself enough yet in life. I wish I had your problems.
If you wanna make a crazy move, follow me. |
