nah, I lived in Washington state, Ill take endless sunshine after I just put in over 30 years of gloom and rain for at least 9 months a year. Colorado was an awesome change as far as sunshine goes, but Phoenix is the King of sunshine. It was 105 in phoenix today (110 on my porch) and most of us had a swimming party here. In Denver, you just don't know, it might be sunny at your party at 1pm but by 3 it might just be snowing. It is kinda cool to BBQ in the snow.

That is the point. There is NO ABSOLUTE place for everyone. Some hate Denver weather, some love it. In the end, HONEST representation is the important factor. Not what the Chamber falsely represents in order to get more people to move. Or the bias some people state that already live here.

HERE ARE THE FACTS:

1 - Denver does NOT get 300 days of sunshine, it gets 250. That # also includes partly cloudy days.

2 - Denver's weather is very erratic. Some of the most erratic weather in the country. 50* temperature swings within 24 hours is not uncommon. It can be sunny and 85F and then snowing and 30F in less than 24 hours.

It can and does snow in May, June & even September, in the same way it can be 65F in December for a day, the weather is erratic and unpredictable.

3 - The winds are VERY STRONG & high wind gusts are common. It is one of the most windiest cities in the country.

4 - The potential for tornadoes, blizzards, extreme heat (100F+), extreme cold (-45F), extreme drought, extreme amounts of rain and snow, winds (50-100MPH gusts), hail, etc. are all possible and occur on a yearly basis within the Denver and metro areas.

If all this is your cup of tea, then you have found your place. If not, then don't come here or move. Either way, what bothers me is the constant and blatant LIES that are told in order to make the area appear to be something it is not.

I'm not sure I agree that Denver is one of the most windiest cities in the country. Though if you live anywhere near Rocky Flats or east of E-470 it probably feels like it.

10 windiest cities according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration are:
1...Blue Hill MA
2...Dodge City KS
3...Amarillo TX
4...Rochester MN
5...Cheyenne WY
6...Caspar Wy
7...Great Falls MT
8...Goodland KS
9...Boston MA
10...Lubbock TX

It's probably #11 or in the top 20 for sure.

The so-called "standards" they used to get "300 days of sunshine" was:

"If you count every day when the sun came out for at least one hour, that then you could come up with an average of around 300 "days of sunshine" each year."

According to OFFICIAL NOAA weather data, the true # of sunny days for Denver is 250 or 69%. ,

Compared to Phoenix, which gets 310 sunny days or 85%.

Like they say, when you tell a lie long enough, people believe it to be true and don't question it.
I'm seeing a "Sky Cover: Possible Sunshine (percentage) for the Denver/Boulder area at: 78% or about 285 days per year if you want to get technical.

Right here, it says Phoenix gets 211 "clear days per year". I could care less what it says for Denver Colorado because it's a meaningless stat for me.

You say "Sunny Days", they say "Days with Sunshine".

I checked Snopes for "Denver", "300 Days of Sunshine", etc. and nothing came up.

Lies? Not on city-data, from what I can tell. I'm all for accurate information, but I find that nearly all people outside Colorado perceive Denver as far colder and snowier than it is. They generally base their perception on the misconception that Denver is in the mountains, and that epic snowstorms are the norm here. Posters on city-data are merely trying to inform people about what it's really like here.

I agree with Lbear. Sometimes I wonder if alot of what you read on this website was written by Realtors, or folks that have a large interest in out of staters moving to Colorado.

I checked out colorado in the summertime. I did not have the time to check out the weather for my self by visiting every four months to see if I liked it. All I had was the job offer and multiple comments by folks who said the "snow only last a day or two" I thought I was going to see 70 degree days in the winter. Well, there was 1 day that I can remember and the snow did not melt. Still I blame myself. Today in Gilbert Arizona its 110 degrees and I love it. I know its going to be 106 Wednesday, and Thursday its a freezing 86, but Ill try and keep warm anyway. Like I said before though, your weather in Colorado beats the heck out of weather in Washington/Oregons gloom, and the humid misery of Texas. I think Colorado Springs has the best weather on the Front range.

I've caught posters in blatant lies. Others have hidden agendas and investment opportunities riding on how people react to news. They post things that suit their pockets and not the the truth.

You have to take everything with a grain of salt and watch out for the tricksters. Numerous posts are active now that are breeding fear but little do the main posters disclose that they have investments that will return huge dividends if the people react out of fear. They are hoping they will, so they will see increases in their investments, they are propagating some of the biggest propaganda out there.

One has to beware of so-called facts on these sites. This thread show how the Denver Chamber claims 300 days, yet the NOAA site states 250 days. Who is telling the truth? Well, that is easy, as the Chamber has a hidden agenda to bring in more people & therefore $$$$ into the state. So they "play it-up" and people get deceived. NOAA has nothing to gain or lose, it simply is stating a fact.
