Do tornadoes ever threaten the Denver area as they often do in other parts of the midwest? (Kansas, Nebraska, etc.)

Tornado Alley is anything EAST of the Rockies. Actually, two of the largest counties in Denver have the most tornadoes per any other county in America. Tornado Chasers are based out of Denver and do tours every spring and summer. The tornadoes are NOT as powerful as the Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, etc. They are usually F2 or weaker but an F2 will still damage a home VERY SEVERELY. |

That seems unlikely (most tornadoes per county). Where that stat from? I too was out planting flowers this morning, and was caught a little off guard by the snow. Rain wouldn't have surprised me so much.
The heat here is not oppressive. It is only hot for a few hours in the afternoon. It is beautiful open-the-windows weather in the morning and evening. David Aguilar - you sound like my 4 year old! He won't sleep when it is snowing either. |

Denver is on the edge of tornado alley but hardly the worst in the country.

But that was a *very* rare occasion. I certainly would not leave Colorado for fear of tornadoes. Less unusual was the 1983 Election Day snowstorm in May, in which we lost electrical power. lol COflower. My sympathies, Lbear. Just remember y'all will be enjoying cool summer nights while I will be sleeping with my AC humming away. |

I thought for the longest of time that it was psychological but it is not.Your blood thin and thickens for the seasons. Therefore in winter in order to conserve heat better in your blood will thicken, the colder it gets the thicker you blood become. And than with spring and summer it gradually thin out. The problem is for those unfortunate souls like myself and Maltose whom leave in extreme climate like the kind you find North Dakota and here in montreal is the temperature shift. For example in this ******** of a city where i live you freeze to death by having to suffer through January bone chilling temperatures anywhere between 0F/-5F during the day time and than AT NIGHT IT CAN GET DOWN TO -10F/-20F with the windshill along with a foot of filthy snow. Than 6 month later, here in this awful place you will SUFFOCATE under 90F-95F weather unto witch you tack on 85 -95% humidity to the hot, stale, smelly, muggy and dirty summer air.All of that is made more difficult for most of us because it take until late august for our blood to thin out enough in order to get use to this unbearable weather.Unfortunately before you can get too comfortable a month will past and you find yourself in late September only to watch october arrive where on the 1st of the month the temperature ALWAYS drop straight down to 50F. I cannot wait to relocate to Denver so i can "suffer"those "brutal" 40F-45F "BONE CHILLING" DECEMBER- JANUARY and those 50F FEBRUARY winter days... ![]() Remember that Denver is dry during the summer so if you are in the shade with a nice breeze everything fine. Count your blessings and be thankful people that you live in Denver, some of you are bitching about the weather but believe me when i tell you that you have no clue what bad weather is and how ****** it is to be stock in it. lucky you.
