Ice storms are when trees and power lines split.
The only place this can happen with frequency in Colorado is the extreme Colorado Eastern border. Ask Oklahoma, eastern Kansas, eastern Texas, Nebraska, etc. about this phenomena.
Let's go back to the phrase;

and merely debunk this misinformation.
Who said anything about trolls? This is LBear's thread to begin with. We all chose to come in here and react to it. But here's a fact; this thread was finally dead for awhile and guess who breathed new life into it? And guess who's responded no fewer than 12 times since they bumped it up?
Are we going to bump this thing up everytime we have a snow storm?
I, in fact, am looking forward to a change in the weather. By next week, it will be well dark by the time I head home from work. It's just weather and the time of year. Boring!

You ignore the data and the posts from people like Jazzlover...

I don't need Jazzlover's posts to tell me about Colorado weather. I've lived here for 32 years myself! Oh, and i was born in Phoenix, btw! =P

Also, now that I'm in a conciliatory mood, I must say that LBear is not nearly as annoying as some of the other Arizona trolls that plague the Colorado boards. I am convinced that LBear really did indeed live in Colorado as he claimed, and that his views are sincerely held if a little exaggerated at times. (He probably feels obligated as a civic duty to "warn" those from warm-weather states that Colorado does indeed get snow.)
Anyway, I'm convinced that LBear is NOT a troll or a trash-talker, unlike at least one other unnamed Arizona poster that pops on here on an all to frequent basis. (Although I must say, the Arizona posters seem equally willing to constantly trash Phoenix and Arizona on their own board, so at least their equal-opportunity with their negativity -- must be something in the water down there).

THANK YOU!
I just want to inject some balance to the forum.
Some of the Denver forum members act like Denver weather is in the 70's most of the year, is sunny 300+ days a year, rarely snows and is never cold.
No place I go to is "perfect". Heck, Phoenix gets insanely hot during June-September. 6 months from November - April is perfect, after that May it can get hot.
Jazzlover was quite accurate with his post about Denver. The weather in Denver is anything but mild, predictable or tame. It can get to -40F with the wind chill in the winter and it can get to 100F in the summer. I was there when it was in the upper 90's and when it hit 104F on August 1st & 2nd of 2008! That was 2 days in a row with that type of heat. It stayed in the upper 90's for a long time. A lot of homes DO NOT have A/C in Denver.
The all-time record high for Denver is 105F on July 20th, 2005. The all-time record low (without windchill) is -30F, with the wind chill it was -50F. That is TWO very vast extremes. You get the insane HEAT plus the insane COLD.

But read your own posts!

and there were forecasts of potentially damaging ice storms in Minneapolis and possible flooding in New Orleans.

Nothing about an ice storm in Denver on that one! That was 6 blizzards in Colorado in a row! A very strange event, mind you.
Now let's get back to that discussion about humidity in the winter...

A point which readily debunks your insistence about extreme weather. I ran our A/C for all of a couple weeks this summer. Two days of 100+ weather! Oh **** run away!
You want extreme heat? Add in humidity. Same with the cold.
Pointing out the infrequent exceptions to the average, no matter how many times you do it won't in fact make your ranting any more correct.
This region has the most benign weather of any area I have lived in save southern California.

Those links, btw, say NOTHING of ice storms in Denver! There were Ice Storms and power outtages to points east of Colorado as that storm tracked through to the East!
Then just because a report of Ice Storms comes out in a Denver Post article, we assume the report is about Colorado and not about some storm to the east of us?
And your last link talks about a storm back when Romer was Governor! That's at least 10+ years ago, boofus!

I don't think I've ever seen an ice storm in Denver like the ones they get in Illinois. Anyone who thinks Denver gets bad ice storms has not lived somewhere that really gets them. I can remember one time when my car was frozen to the driveway back in Champaign Co, Ill. I was chopping at the ice with a garden hoe (didn't have a snow shovel at the time).

Keep repeating that, you will eventually believe your own lies.
Say after me:
"There's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's no place like home" Don't forget to click your heels.
Now say:
"Denver's weather is mild. Denver's weather is mild. Denver's weather is mild." Don't forget to click your heels.

Look MacGyver, you can create your own Denver weather by taking a car battery, some water, a shoelace and some glue.
Relax, drink some tea and go outside and look at the stars. It's 40F with clear skies in Denver right now. If you see a falling star, make a wish. A front is coming in from the west over the weekend. Enjoy the weather.

Look, if you like living in Denver, more power to you. I don't think for a second that you are completely fair and balanced in your descriptions about Denver. Heck, you named yourself after the city!
Your bias is quite evident. If you believe that 104F temps in the summer and -30F temps in the winter are not extremes, if you believe that 2+ feet of snow in 24 hours, 60MPH winds, tornadoes, being in Hail Alley, having the temps do a 50* drop & go from 80F and sunny to 30F and snow in less than 24 hours is not extreme weather, then you are far gone.
I have lived and travel throughout the USA. Each place has its pros and cons. Denver, has been the most extreme weather I have yet experienced. Jazzlover and others who live in Denver agree with this. You are disagreeing with NOAA and your own Denver neighbors! That should say something to you.

Denver does not have the most extreme weather that I have ever experienced. Champaign, IL and points north have much harsher winters.
